RecStaff does not accumulate sick time but it does allow you to track sick hours on a schedule basis if you do not use the timesheet payroll module.

Here are the scenarios that may require you to track sick time:

1.  Someone calls in sick is replaced and paid for shift

When you replace a sick employee on a shift but you still want to pay the sick employee for the hours they were supposed to work you can do this by adding another shift to the schedule and adding the sick employees name to it.  We recommend you add an unique colour to the shift and a label "Sick".  These hours will show up on the Hours tab for payroll purposes.  See When an employee calls in sick but you have a replacement so you can see how to add a Work Code to the shift for tracking work behaviour.

2.  Someone calls in sick not replaced and paid for shift

When you can't replace the sick staff member but still want to track their hours for payroll you should change the colour of the shift to an unique colour used only for tracking hours not worked, whether it's for sick days or stat holidays, it's a good idea to have a visual queue that shows you when a shift falls into this category.  See When an employee calls in sick and you aren't replacing so you can see how to add a Work Code to the shift for tracking work behaviour.

3.  Someone calls in sick and is not paid for the sick day

If you want to see the sick day that is not being paid on the shift you can leave it on the shift, add the unique colour you've chosen for such days and add the label "Sick"  you then need to go to the Work tab and add an unpaid break to the entire length of the shift so the staff member shows up on the Hours tab but has 0 hours for that shift.
