This article describes the process of using SSO to access RecStaff.  If you are looking for an overview of SSO in general, checkout this article. If you need more details about how to configure SSO for your own site, review this article.

Logging In

When you come to the RecStaff login page, you are presented with a dialogue where you can provide your RecStaff username and password to gain access.

In your employee profile, your supervisor can specify whether they want you to login using RecStaff credentials (your username and password) or through SSO, using your Microsoft Entra credentials provided by your employer.

Note that if your employee profile is set to SSO, and you attempt to login using your RecStaff credentials, those credentials will be ignored and you will be directed to the SSO page.

In the lower left corner of the login dialogue is an "SSO" link. Clicking this will start the SSO process. If you are currently not logged in to your Microsoft Entra account you will see the following page:

Tip: If you regularly use SSO, you can bookmark "sso.recstaff.com" rather than the URL to the login page.

Clicking the "Login to Microsoft" brings up the familiar Microsoft login screen:

RecStaff does not have any access to your Microsoft credentials. If you login is successful, Microsoft tells our RecStaff servers to grant you access.

If this is the first time you are accessing your RecStaff account, you will see our standard Terms and Conditions that you will need to approve before continuing on:

You will then see your RecStaff dashboard:

If at anytime you close your RecStaff tabs (but not their browser) and return to the SSO front page again, you will  see this

… and you can click the button and go straight into RecStaff because your authenticated session with Microsoft is still alive. However, if your credentials from MS have timed out in the meantime you will have to re-authenticate.

Logging Out

When you select “Logout” from the user menu in the upper right corner of RecStaff, your RecStaff session is ended. We then tell MS to give you the option to logout of your SSO session altogether:

Even if you do nothing here, the RecStaff session has ended so you will be forced to log back in to gain access to RecStaff again.
